As we know, the way of communicate has changed. Now companies have to worry in create a two-way communication with their stakeholders. One type of stakeholder are the investors, whose are always looking for news about the company that they are investing and looking for information about what is going on inside market’s company and out side market’s company.
The division of a company that cares about investor is the ‘’Investors Relations’’ (IR), the IR primary function is reach investors number and bring founds to the company. However, things changed and more functions were assigned to this area. Provide information about the company, stock prices, brand values, goals that were reached by the company, CSR, financial targets, debt information and others aspects that important for the investors and the investors’ market.
One radical change in the way that IR communicates with investors is the use of digital platforms. As we also know, internet became one of the best ways to share information about the company fast and cheap. Instead of print lots of papers with annual reports and information about the economy of the company, and transport those ‘’books’’ to investors’ hands, the on line universe provides an easier and two-way communication between company and investors.
Volvo’s web site provides to their investors all the information that they need in an easy way. In side of Volvo’s web site, there is a section called ‘’Investors’’, where those stakeholders can find all kind of content about their role in market.
What has called my attention is the simple way that Volvo provides that information. The company doesn’t do millions of shows and flash details; otherwise Volvo’s Investor section provides all the necessaries and details about the company and the market. Graphics, PDF files to download, announcements, CSR reports, CSR links, stock values, Presentation, Financial Targets, Corporate Governance and everything that can be of interest of investors are easily find in Volvo’s web site.
About the CSR, Volvo created a specific web page for talk about that and gives the information that investors are looking for. This is their CSR web page and you can access like any other person in the world to know more about what there are doing inside and for our society. http://www.volvogroup.com/group/global/en-gb/responsibility/Pages/responsibility.aspx
With all said, I came again ask apologize for talk about a company that reach all the topics that I have been post with almost perfection, however in this topic what called my attention is that Volvo missed one detail. That regular people also can be investors and this kind of investors has been growing every year.
But this environment, stock, market, economy isn’t to easy to understand and sometimes regular people don’t invest in a company because they are afraid. In my opinion, Volvo could create a kind of blog or section that talk with regular people that want to invest in a company, explain how things work inside this world and give not specific information, but using a language that anyone could understand how this world work.
Coming back to how Volvo works with their investors and market, now days is essential that any company provides more information as possible about what is going on with the company and the market around it. Especially in time of crisis and post crisis, as we live right now. I wouldn’t change the way that they are providing information and content, but I can say that they cannot stop or start to talk less about the company’s finances. In times like these, companies must keep giving details about their selves, because that is what is give the investors calm and the trust that they need to keeping investing in the company.
You have done a good job of addressing the general themes of investor relations. You haven't, however, said much about government relations or concentrated much on crisis communications in particular. In other words, it's a good job as far as you go; you just haven't gone quite far enough.
