The company that I chose to talk about has being part of my life since I was born. My mother has been working with this company for almost 30 years and since I was a child I have being hearing about this company. Another reason to chose Volvo is because this company was elected the best place to work in my country.
To start talk about this company I will tell you more about their vision, values, history and target. Those are priority topics to know better any company. Most of people when go to a job interview don’t look for know the company and what is it about. In addition, as a goal for my professional life work with Volvo, I looked for this information and started to know better this global company.
Volvo’s vision is based in one main vision, which is ‘‘becomes the world leader in sustainable transport solutions’’. To reach this goal Volvo has four topics that hold this ideal, those are: ‘creating value for customers in selected segments, pioneering products and services for the transport and infrastructure industries, driving quality, safety and environmental care, working with energy, passion and respect for the individual. ‘’ According to Volvo’s website.
As the vision, Volvo’s values are divided in four parts, which are ‘’Quality, environmental care, safety is part of our soul and our vision.’’ Those four topics make the company reach all the main points that a transport company must reach to be a leader in the world.
However, to build vision and values isn’t a easy task, any company has to have the trust by it’s stakeholders and nothing better to be trusted than it’s own history. Volvo’s history starts in 1927 when they did the first Volvo car in Sweden. Since them, with the company’s vision and values they started to migrate to different kinds of transport that affects their costumers. Now days Volvo is one of the largest transport companies in the entire world.
On one hand is not easy to a company reach all the goals of your costumers. That is the reason that Volvo started to offer different kinds of products and services, with this they can work closer with their consumers and partners. Volvo now a days is divided by areas and brands, some examples of areas are IT Volvo, Volvo Financial, Volvo Business Services and the list goes on. With those services the company is able to support and help their stakeholders in different aspects. The other parts of this huge company called Volvo are their brands, Volvo, Renault Trucks, Mack, UD Trucks, Prevost and Nova Bus.
The division of the company into brands and services happens to serve better their target, that is anyone or any company that uses transport. With those brands and services Volvo can reach, almost, all needs and desires of their consumers and partners.
With all said, I hope you (reader) enjoy those information and look for more in their website, www.volvo.com . There you learn more about this company and, maybe, become an admirer of this company as I am.
Thank you and see you in the next post.

Just wondering since you have had, or your family has, a 30 year association with Volvo, did you (or they) notice any significant change in the company when it was sold to China and came under their state sponsored management?
ResponderExcluirI do not think the government of China has bought the Volvo Group, since he is still with his headquarters in the same location that the company was born. However, being a public company, but may be that some group of Chinese investors have bought shares of the same, as well as own Volvo has interests in shares of companies in the same and other segments.
ResponderExcluirI'm interested to follow your blog, Guilherme - I love my Volvo. I bought it new after my 1st test drive, despite the comments from some who thought I should've spent less on a different type, but everyone I've known who has owned a Volvo has nothing but great things to say about not only safety, but also durability. I just liked the radio and the way it looked. :) (Though I do hope I never have to test how safe it is, I'm counting on the durability too...won't be buying another new car anytime soon!)
ResponderExcluirLove the that you're using 2 languages in your blog. I think this will be a great way to stand out in terms of personal branding!
ResponderExcluirA good job of providing background on the company. You've also nicely separated "areas" "and" brands, which are different. We have two Volvos, a 1994 with over 100,000 miles and a 1997 with over 235,000 miles. Both seem to be running well. We keep our fingers crossed.
